At the EDM Shop, we harness technology to cut metals to within tiny fractions of a millimeter.
Our machinery is programmed by computer to the specifications of your project. By discharging electricity in a controlled fashion, we create sparks that melt and vaporize the metal of the piece we are shaping. The electrode never actually touches the material — instead, its potential current is carried through dielectric liquid that serves as a buffer between the tool and the piece. This same fluid will wash away the debris removed. This process shapes the metal until it meets the dimensions specified by our customer.
Traditional manufacturing methods cannot produce components with this degree of precision, and the EDM process is often misunderstood even by those in the manufacturing business. EDM technology has been invaluable to a number of industries, from aeronautics to medical care to automobiles.
